The keynote address is on Promoting the Digital Inclusion of the Girl Child. It will explore ways and strategies of addressing the gender digital divide in the country and promote better access to the use and benefits of the internet in the hands of young girls.

This session will look at the challenge women have in accessing and using the internet as well as the consequences of that on women’s effective use of the internet. We would in particular look at the instance of domestic violence in the content of the lockdown and how the internet would have been mostly using in reducing such if all women have access to it. As a response to these challenges, we would seek for ways to promote greater engagement of women in internet policymaking so that the process and outcomes would be gendered.

There is a growing acceptance that unemployment has a feminine face in Nigeria. This to a large extend is link with the challenges women face in getting employment. The session will look at the role of the internet in fostering employability and enhanced access to education as well as bring out the opportunities for women to become digital entrepreneurship, thus helping to address unemployment, especially of women in the county.
